Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary
#BREAKINGNEWS: Introducing a NEW national marine sanctuary…
With broad support, today NOAA announced an important addition to America’s National Marine Sanctuary System- Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary.
The 1,722 square-mile area contains waters that act as a gateway between the Great Lakes and the ocean and protect culturally significant places, resources, and artifacts integral to American history and the heritage of Indigenous Peoples.
This is the most recent national marine sanctuary designation since NOAA announced the inclusion of Wisconsin Shipwreck Coast National Marine Sanctuary in 2021, and it is the third sanctuary to be designated in the Great Lakes.

Thank you very much for this video. As a scuba diver, I must say that this has to be one of the best videos I have seen about Monterey Bay. It made me want to come down and dive once a month on boat and off the shore. Now my question is. do you know about any dive charters that can take me out to see more of the Pelagic Marine Life. Once again, thank you for this amazing video. I am looking at Monterey Bay in such a different way now. Bearblessings
Govt video instructing incorrect method 👎
"I love whale fall" bro what
Sadly, some savage tribes were not extinguished by modernity and these kuntz are still here wanting to kill whales
What does this mean for the area? Like more tourists, maybe more water testing? Will there be cool facilities?
Long live whales, and their protectors.
that's so cool what
I’ve paddled wa’a (outrigger canoe) my whole life and being out on the ocean is one of the greatest connections to my kupuna (ancestors) I can think of and everytime I’m out there I feel my kupuna with me.
Wow in kanaka maoli or native Hawaiian we call the edible seaweed that grows in the ocean on the coast Limu the same way you pronounce Limuw. Anyone know the meaning of limuw and what it translates to?
Do not pass up the Makah Cultural Center--its a gem! Plan for a half-day there :-)
Awesome, I wonder what questions the Biologists are looking to answer with these samples?
I yearn for the day these dudes make it into Splatoon!!!
Yea I too was amazed at how chill the fish all were with some big machine whirring around shining a big light in their turf. That appears to be THE hangout spot for the fish, Lol. Strength in numbers, right?
I had no idea Moody Gardens was as accredited of an aquarium as it was. VERY COOL! Glad to see they're involved with educating the local Houston-Galveston community.
💙🦈
Curious why we didn't finish raising the ship. Money? Time? Deterioration? We don't have the technology to raise it? Is there any way to restore the ship like others have done with wooden ships that have been raised? Curious about the thought process and I am NOT upset.
Silly question. Why not bring the rest of Monitor up? Cost too much? Not worth the time? It seems like your got through to the point of the "big lift" and stopped. We will do it later? Just wondering.
This is so cool! A side of the story I had never heard!
Aww so sweet😢
Good❤

I will be there Monday🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Subnautica ruined the ocean for me lol
Also any divers from the Bay Area please reach out. Recently started dive almost three years ago and looking to explore California Diving .
I am from the Bay Area and never heard about this location until now. This looks and sounds like a must dive destination. Do you know of any dive guides you can recommend for a day dive trip here
Thats odd, these jellyfish normally live in groups. This one is alone
This feels like Tangle Kelp's home, just not in the pool
Thanks for the great video! I’ll be vacationing with my family in OBX this May24. I’m researching dive sites and the Monitor is top of the dive charter list. So much history, the USS Monitor Center is a bonus!
My uncle George Bellamy was the Bombardier on the plane that sunk the u701. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross for his ability. He is second from the left in the picture.
Why not use a softer than iron chisel? Remove the risk of damaging the iron.
Thing looks great for as long as it was down there, those "arms" that push the pistons or levers or what not are in really bad shape, you can see how the corrosion has eaten away at them, corrosion is pure cancer and it will eat and eat and never be satisfied.
Terrible editing job ..... come on you gotta do better.

it would be nice if you could include metric numbers
I don’t think that whales use the metric system.
